Travel Teams
The teams will be comprised of the highest level of players possible in order to keep the tradition of excellence that has embodied the Yellow Jackets organization thus far. Players who earn a spot on the team are not guaranteed a future position on the team. Playing time is not guaranteed. Team selection for a team can range from 15-24 players based on talent.
Coaches
The coaches who are selected for YJS staff are carefully chosen based on a variety of factors. Although playing lacrosse at the highest level is critical for a coach’s background, more importantly YJS coaches should be able to explain and break down the components of the game for developing players to understand. Staff members should consider themselves educators of the game and continuously keep up with current practices through coaches clinics, US Lacrosse, and shadowing high level coaches. Coaches should be prepared for constructive criticism by YJS administrators and be prepared to collaborate with other coaches. It is essential that all coaches understand the mission of the Yellow Jackets and that they follow the infrastructure of the organization without allowing their personal philosophies to dilute the mission.

Commitment from Players
Players are expected to attend all training sessions and mandatory events; however, players are excused from training for college clinics, and lacrosse related showcases. Non-contagiously sick or injured players are expected to attend and observe training. Parents and guardians are expected to reinforce the culture of commitment by scheduling vacations and appointments around the event schedule. The foundation of an elite athletic organization begins with player dedication and commitment. Attendance affects the player's roster spot and playing time on the field.

Recruiting
Due to the NCAA recruiting rule change, players who are younger than juniors in high school are expected to focus on building highlight film, building relationships with college coaches by attending college camps/clinics, emailing college coaches prior to tournaments, visiting colleges, and developing their level of play in order to be recruitable upon appropriate age. Juniors and older are expected to communicate directly with college coaches, organize official/unofficial visits, attend camps/clinics, continue to update highlight film, and continue to work on their level of play. All players are encouraged to create and maintain a webpage that contains their film, academic standing, photographs, and information.
YJS Assistance in Recruiting: What is included in club dues?
The YJS staff will gladly help players with advice and guidance on their recruiting path. YJS uses Zoom to have team meetings and individual one on one meetings with YJS players to discuss the recruiting process. Every high school age player has a IWLCA SportsRecruits account that contains the player's profile (film GPA, background, events, picture, etc). The YJS administration will provide an evaluation of player's ability to college coaches prior to a player's attendance of a camp or clinic. Players will work with the YJS staff on comprising a list of appropriate colleges. College lists are a fluid process and can continue to change based on various factors. Prior to the start of a fall tournament season and a summer tournament season, the YJS administration will provide college coaches with a list of players who are interested in their institution. The list to college coaches will include a brief background on the player, the player's GPA, and any pertinent academic information. All YJS coaches are expected to respond to college coaches in a positive and timely manner. Any communication with college coaches must be shared with the ownership.
